FAA investigating laser strike at Hector International Airport

(FARGO, ND) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a laser strike at Hector International Airport.

The FAA says it happened at around 9 p.m. Thursday two miles from the airport.

The aircraft illuminated was a Sikorsky UH-60 and was hit by a green laser. Nobody aboard the helicopter was injured, the FAA said.

Fargo Police Sergeant Jerrod Wagner says the Criminal Investigations Division of the department is aware of the incident and will be consulting with the FAA.

Pilots reported 12,840 laser strikes last year, a three percent decrease from 2023.
