“We’re off to a good start”: Fargo police chief pleased so far with 2025 crime rates

(FARGO, ND) – Fargo Police are reporting more than 500 arrests and more than 2,000 offenses in the first quarter of 2025, which the police chief suggests is a good sign on crime.

Based on police crime data, the city saw more than 3,000 offenses over the same period last year.

“We’re off to a good start in 2025,” Chief David Zibolski said in a video posted to department social media.

As of April 9, police also made more than a thousand arrests during the first quarter of 2024, compared to more than 500 over the same time frame this year.

The arrests include 539 adults and 19 juveniles.

Looking at specific crime categories, more than 70 of those were taken into custody for simple assaults, including four juveniles.

Close to 50 people were busted for DUI so far, and more than 30 others for trespassing.

Officers have also responded to 265 shoplifting reports, with 36 having been cleared to this point.
