Fargo, Moorhead & Oakport Township Cleanup Week dates announced

FARGO-MOORHEAD – Get ready to put unneeded things onto boulevards in Fargo-Moorhead because the dates for Cleanup Week have been announced.

The event will be held May 5 through 9 and May 12 through 16 in Fargo and Moorhead. Oakport Township will have theirs May 20.

Sanitation workers will collect things on your recycling day in Fargo from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The Week A schedule will have things collected May 5 through 9 and Week B will have things collected May 12 through 16. You can also get rid of things at the Fargo Landfill at 4501 7th Avenue North for free on weekdays from 7:15 AM to 5:00 PM and on Saturday from 7:15 AM to 1:00 PM, but building materials and concrete won’t be accepted.

In Moorhead, cleanup days will be on your garbage day opposite your recycling week starting at 5:00 AM. A Week is scheduled for May 12 through 16, B Week is May 5 through 9.

Oakport Township’s cleanup day is May 20, the same as recycling day.

Fargo Cleanup Week reminders:

  • A limit of two appliances per household will be accepted.
  • Up to four tires and rims will be collected per household.
  • Logs and brush up to 10 inches in diameter will be accepted.
  • Building materials like wood and concrete will not be collected.
  • Electronics, including televisions and computers, as well as household hazardous waste, including paints, stains and varnishes, should not be set out for pickup.
  • One television and one computer per household per month may be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, along with other household hazardous waste.

Moorhead Cleanup Week reminders:

  • Tires will NOT be collected at the curb. Homeowners will need to dispose of them at retail tire stores or the Resource Recovery Center for a fee.
  • Sort appliances, furniture, household garbage, metal, etc. into piles; different trucks collect specific items.
  • Use disposable containers such as cardboard boxes (no loose garbage please).
  • Do not set items out more than one day earlier than your Cleanup Day.
  • During Cleanup Days, crews will not return to pick up garbage set out after your garbage day.
  • Two appliances per household will be picked up free of charge. Remove refrigerator and freezer doors for children’s safety.
  • Do not place food or waste inside appliances.
  • No commercial waste will be accepted.
  • Keep garbage totes at least 4 feet away from Cleanup Days items.
  • Empty propane tanks will also be collected (valves need to be removed or a hole needs to be drilled into the tank).
