NORTH DAKOTA – North Dakota Health and Human Services announced there have been 3 newly confirmed cases of the measles in Williams County, bringing the state’s total to 4 so far this year.
The new cases are known contacts of the original case, which is said to be a child, that was reported on May 2nd.
HHS says the patients are isolating to avoid spreading the virus.
These are North Dakota’s first measles cases since 2011.
Minnesota’s Department of Health has also announced two measles cases in the state this year.
One person was exposed to the virus outside of the United States. The other was exposed in the U.S..
Minnesota had 70 cases of measles in 2024.
