SAINT PAUL, Minn – The Vikings want the legislature to pay $20 million a year to cover the cost of upkeep of U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which operates the state-owned stadium, believes it will need close to $300 million in maintenance over the next 10 years.
DFL State Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato is the sponsor of the proposal. He told the Senate Taxes Committee an ongoing stream of revenue for capital improvements was key to keeping the stadium in top shape.
