(GRAND FORKS, ND) – A 22-year-old North Carolina man faces charges after fleeing police in Grand Forks.
Officers observed a vehicle driving eastbound on Demers Avenue at a ‘dangerously high rate of speed.’ The responding officer activated his emergency lights and siren while attempting to catch up to the vehicle, which continued eastbound on Demers Avenue through the intersection at South Washington Street, before turning eastbound on 7th Avenue South and traveling through residential neighborhoods.
The suspect made his way to Lincoln Park, where spike strips were used unsuccessfully, along with a pair of PIT maneuvers – one of which was eventually successful.
A high-risk traffic stop happened in the 400 block of 1st Avenue South, with three people detained.
Martin Romo was the lone individual charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, fleeing in a motor vehicle and attempted assault on a law enforcement officer. The other passengers were released. No one was injured.
