South Dakota inmate dies in DOC custody

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Corrections says a state prison inmate died in their custody last week.

65-year old Slade Walter was being held at the Sioux Falls Penitentiary and passed away at a hospital in Sioux Falls on May 7th.

Walter was serving a life sentence for criminal pedophile, plus a 15 year sentence for sexual contact with a child out of Pennington County.

The cause of death was not released.
