GRAFTON, ND – Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens is turning the page after voters in Walsh County defeated a proposal to build a new jail and sheriff’s office.
Now, the county is looking at using sales tax revenue for possible construction of a jail/and or sheriff’s office.
“Our state’s attorney’s office is researching this more deeply to be fully certain,” Jurgens said at the Walsh County Commission meeting Tuesday. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for next week, after the final votes are certified at the county level, Jurgens said.
“We will discuss what, if any, options we have with the funds that we do have available to us,” he said.
The commission took no further action after Jurgens read a prepared statement.
