BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota is preparing for a potential special session of the state legislature.
“There are a number of different scenarios where that (special session) could happen,” Sen. David Hogue, the Senate Majority Leader, said. “I think I spent some time during the regular session discussing them.”
He referenced an appellate court’s decision to reverse a redistricting situation.
“The question is do we have some sort of duty to act,” Hogue said, asking North Dakota Legislative Council’s legal staff to provide advice and report to the next meeting of the Legislative Management Committee.
Another scenario would be challenging a veto the legislators ‘are not comfortable with’ as a legislative body.
“There has been some issue on vetoes that may cause us to come back,” Hogue said.
