Rep. Johnson of SD: not passing Big Beautiful Bill Act ‘would be the biggest failure of the conservative movement in decades’

Rep. Dusty Johnson’s conversation with Scott Hennen on “What’s On Your Mind?”

WASHINTGON – Republican South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson believes it would be catastrophic if Congress doesn’t pass the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill Act”.

“It would be the biggest failure of the conservative movement in decades,”  Johnson told The Flag.  “We will have ushered in the largest tax increase in American history. We would have failed to secure the border in a more permanent way.”

Johnson disagrees with Elon Musk, who now claims the bill is full of wasteful funding.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,”  Musk wrote on X on June 3.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

The congressman says the legislation, which is in the Senate, cuts $1.7 trillion in spending and gives money to the Defense Department and for 800 miles of a new border wall and other border security measures.

Johnson admits not every bill is perfect.

“There has never been perfect governmental action,”  Johnson explained.  “People need to pull their heads out of their rear ends, figure out how to make this better. I wish this was more conservative, but failure would be a catastrophe.”

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says the bill would add nearly $2.4 trillion to the national debt.
