Man arrested after assaulting three Fargo police officers

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A man is in custody after assaulting three Fargo police officers Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, June 7, at 4:35 p.m., FPD officers utilizing the Real Time Crime Center alerted officers in the downtown area to suspicious activity taking place in the 200 block of Roberts Street North.

Officers located the suspect, Joseph Manitowabi, a 37-year-old male with no permanent address, and attempted to detain him.

Manitowabi resisted and assaulted three officers as they were attempting to detain him.

The three officers sustained minor injuries and are being treated at a local healthcare facility.

After a short foot pursuit, Manitowabi was detained and arrested for preventing arrest, possession of methamphetamine, assault of three police officers, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
