UPDATE: The suspects are identified as 41-year old Gabriel Patrick Messmer and 42-year old Christopher Ryan Ringsrud-Knowles. Both are from Fargo.

GRAND FORKS COUNTY, ND – Two Fargo men are charged with possessing an explosive device.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol was conducting a traffic stop Wednesday morning on a southbound vehicle on I-29 for illegal window tint.
While doing a vehicle search based on probable cause, authorities located a device believed to be an explosive.
The Grand Forks Bomb Squad was called and responded to the scene.
While the device was examined, I-29 southbound was closed between Thompson and Reynolds for a period of more than two hours.
Authorities detonated the device safely just after noon. The vehicle was then cleared, and evidence collected.
The men have not been identified.
The investigation is ongoing.
