Former Bison football player sentenced on drug trafficking charges

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A former NDSU Bison football player was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.

Colter Pritchard was sentenced to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release and fined $200 for “conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distributing a controlled substance” as well as “possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.”

Pritchard was arrested in February of 2024 for his involvement in a drug trafficking ring spanning from North Dakota to Arizona dating back to January of 2023.

According to court documents, at the time of the arrest, police found five kilograms of a substance containing cocaine in his vehicle.

Pritchard joined the Bison in 2014. His team bios says he graduated in 2013 from Langdon Area High School and was a first team all-state running back his senior year.
