BISMARCK, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Earlier this month, the North Dakota Public Health Association claimed the state had the highest rate of measles cases in the nation.
Since that time, there have been no new cases of the virus reported.
The last reported case was on May 28, three weeks ago.
Wednesday is the first day since May 2 that the state Department of Health and Human Services doesn’t have precautionary isolation recommendations for those who may have been exposed.
While the spread has slowed, the outbreak is still considered ongoing.
In Williams County, where community spread of the virus was confirmed, it’s still recommended that individuals six months and older receive an MMR vaccine.
Daphne Clark with the Upper Missouri District Health Unit says it takes 42 days after the last known infectious day of the last confirmed case to change those recommendations.
