Highway Patrol stops Fort Ransom man after chase in three counties

GRAND FORKS COUNTY, ND – A 53-year-old Fort Ransom man is facing multiple charges after a three-county pursuit in eastern North Dakota.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the pursuit began just before 11 a.m. Tuesday as a reckless driver was reported northbound on I-29 in Cass County. The vehicle was reportedly swerving on the roadway, brake checking and not allowing others to pass. A Highway Patrol trooper responded and located the vehicle.

A traffic stop was attempted near the Mayville exit, but the vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound, exiting at the Buxton off-ramp before merging back onto northbound I-29.

Law enforcement eventually were able to spike the vehicle near the Thompson exit, eventually causing the driver to stop.

Kevin Anderson is facing charges for reckless endangerment – extreme indifference, a Class C felony; aggravated reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor; fleeing a police officer, a Class C felony; preventing arrest – resisting, a Class C felony; and moving violations for failure to maintain single lane/unsafe lane change, care required and failure to use signal.

The Patrol was assisted by the Grand Forks and Traill County sheriff’s offices.
