BEMIDJI, Minn. (Valley News Live) – Beltrami County emergency manager Christopher Muller says just after midnight on Saturday, the county was hit with torrential rain.
It caused flash flooding in downtown Bemidji.
Muller says several roadways were also blocked by thousands of downed trees.
Just before 1:00am, the Bemidji Regional Airport’s weather station registered a wind gust of 106mph. Muller says as of 7:00am Saturday morning, no injuries have been reported in Beltrami County.
“Residents should plan for long-term power outages as significant infrastructure damage has occurred.” Muller wrote in a press release on Saturday morning.
“Travelers are asked to avoid unnecessary travel in Bemidji as crews are working to clear roadways.” Muller added.
An undisclosed number of residents are displaced, and Muller says arrangements have been made to help those families.
Muller adds that those needing assistance in Beltrami County should go to the Sanford Convention Center at 1111 Events Center Drive NE.
