NDSU Athletics to take part in House settlement

FARGO, N.D. –

North Dakota State Athletics announced it will take part in the House versus NCAA settlement for the upcoming school year.

That will allowing the university to directly pay student athletes.

NDSU says that move allows it to have greater flexibility in providing benefits to them including name.. image and likeness opportunities.

Director of Athletics Matt Larsen says he initially considered opting out of the House settlement, but that would have came with roster limits.

“Over the course of our history, our depth, the ability to walk-on, to come here, earn a scholarship and go on and have a successful career is pretty commonplace. That was a big concern of ours. Larsen explained.

Larsen believes roster limits would have led to 65 athletes across 16 sports no longer being able to play for the Bison.

Larsen says The Green and Gold Collective, which raised NIL money, will be phased out by the end of July. Fans and businesses who want to donate to student-athletes can do so through the Green and Gold Fund by clicking here.
