TRAILL COUNTY, ND – Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway says work will begin to repair cars that were turned over during June 21’s severe thunderstorms that hit the region.
According to officials with BNSF Railway, several hundred cars were overturned during the storm. The cars were empty at the time and were grain cars being stored on the tracks in the rural Traill County communities of Clifford and Galesburg.
Officials say the work will begin this week and last for at least a month.
The cars will then be put back in service as needed based on customer demand. The repairs will not impact main line operations, officials say.
