Washington, D.C. – Following a marathon speech by the House Democratic Minority Leader and subsequent floor address by House Speaker Mike Johnson, the chamber has now taken a final vote and passed President Trump’s budget bill.
After some overnight drama to get enough dissenting GOP members on board, the so-called ‘big beautiful bill’ passed by a 218-214 vote.
All Democrats voted against it, including two Republicans: Pennsylvania’s Brian Fitzpatrick and Kentucky’s Thomas Massie.
The measure now heads to President Trump to be signed into law.
Trump and Republicans had imposed a July 4th deadline to approve the plan.
Other Republican members of Congress are also reacting to the vote.
“The One Big Beautiful Bill turns the page on four years of weakness, disorder, and runaway federal spending—and begins a new chapter for America,” said GOP Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak.

But Democrats like Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar claim the legislation will “spike our debt…and take away health care”
North Dakota Republican Senator John Hoeven says the legislation “will make our nation more prosperous and more secure.”
“We worked to pass this legislation to provide permanent tax relief for American families that will enable them to keep more of their hard-earned paychecks,” said Hoeven.
“This bill delivers on the priorities that President Trump promised to get our nation back on track.”
