Domestic violence suspect & man shot by police near Frazee, Minn. is identified

UPDATE – The BCA has identified the domestic violence suspect shot at the Frazee rest area on Wednesday as 36-year-old Todd Burris of Bemidji.

An agency spokesperson adds he’s in stable condition at a Fargo hospital and believes he will be arrested for suspicion of aggravated assault once discharged.

NEAR FRAZEE, Minn. – The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has taken over the investigation into an officer-involved shooting near Frazee.

Becker County Deputies responded to a domestic assault call on the 20000 block of Becker County Highway 21 around 5:30 PM Wednesday, July 9. The caller said a man entered a home, assaulted a woman and stole a gun.

Deputies found the vehicle in Detroit Lakes where it fled. Police, Otter Tail County Deputies and Troopers joined the chase and the vehicle parked at the Frazee Rest Stop on Highway 10 where authorities say the driver was shot.

The man was taken to a Detroit Lakes hospital and later to one in Fargo.

Police haven’t said what led up to the shooting or identified the man who was shot. The BCA didn’t tell Flag Family news which agency the officer who shot the man is with citing an active investigation.
