WASHINGTON, DC – Minnesota United States Senator Tina Smith has been hospitalized.
“While at work at the Capitol today, Sen. Smith started to not feel well,” her staff posted on her official X account. “She went to the Capitol physician who recommended she undergo more thorough examination at GW hospital.”
Staff say Smith has been admitted to the hospital overnight for observation but give no details on her current condition or what doctors have determined led to the hospitalization.
“She expects to be back at work very soon,” the post read.
The 67-year-old Smith has served in the Senate since 2018 and announced in February that she will not run for reelection in 2026.
