Community paints mural on Fargo basketball court

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A local basketball court received a makeover, all thanks to the community’s painting skills.

Artists of all ages came out to the Dike West basketball court in Fargo to paint a brightly-colored, community mural.

The event was put on through the Fargo Park District, whose Marketing and Communications Specialist, Kylie Kanwischer, said, “We wanted something the community could be apart of that’s not super intricate. We wanted everybody to just come out and paint together! It’s the Fargo parks colors with references to nature, movement, and play.”

Kanwischer said the design was her idea, and represents the movement and growth of the City of Fargo.

“This court is probably one of our most used basketball courts… just with the growth that’s happening, we want to make sure we’re giving some love to the north side,” she added.

The paint-by-numbers style mural was also created in celebration of National Parks and Recreation month.

The Fargo Park District will be hosting a ‘movie on the court’ event on Wednesday, July 23, from 6-8p.m., on the newly-painted Dike West space.
