Fargo Cass Public Health hosting back-to-school immunization clinics in August

Fargo, N.D. – Fargo Cass Public Health is hosting four back-to-school immunization clinics in for children in August before the next academic year begins.

FCPH is hosting the events in partnership with Family HealthCare, two of which are appointment-only.

“Staying on schedule with vaccinations is one of the best ways to protect your child—and others around them—from serious diseases like measles, meningitis and whooping cough,” says Cheryl Wavrin, Immunization Coordinator at FCPH.

Family HealthCare will assist with the walk-in immunizations on the second and third days of the clinics.

A mobile unit will be set up in the FCPH parking lot at 1240 25th St South from 8am to 3:30pm on each clinic day:

  • Tuesday, August 5 – appointments only
  • Tuesday, August 12 – appointments and walk-ins available
  • Tuesday, August 19 – appointments and walk-ins available
  • Tuesday, August 26 – appointments only

People are asked to bring insurance information.

FCPH says the CDC recommends these shots for children before entering kindergarten:

  • Chickenpox
  • Hepatitis B
  • diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP)
  • measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
  • polio

Before seventh grade, FCPH says vaccines for bacterial meningitis are recommended, as well as booster shots for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.

An added dose of meningitis vaccine is also recommended for kids entering the 11th grade.

Registration forms for walk-in immunizations through FHC are available here
