Fargo, N.D. – A local nonprofit is again holding an annual free back-to-school supplies event for students registered within the Fargo Public School system.
Families United for Self-Empowerment, also known as ‘FUSE’ for short, will be giving away free backpacks and supplies on Wednesday August 6th from 4pm to 7pm at Jefferson Elementary on 4th Ave South.
It’s the third consecutive year that the ‘Back To School Connect” program has been held in Fargo.
“The purpose of this event is to bring resources and connect them with families,” FUSE founder Victoria Johnson told WDAY’s ‘Bonnie and Friends’ on Tuesday.

Families can also take advantage of other services beyond free supplies and bookbags.
Children will also be able to receive free pediatric screenings, sports physicals, food assistance and haircuts.
“We have pediatric partners [on site] doing early intervention assessments for speech and language,” said Johnson.
“If they can detect that, they can help those families after the event and come to their office to seek the help they need.”
The event will feature resource tables, kids activities including a bouncy house and free food.
