Minnesota legislators to be offered enhanced home security measures

ST PAUL, MN – Legislators in Minnesota are taking action to increase security for its fellow members.

The moves come after Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed, along with Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were injured by Vance Boelter last month.

A Senate DFL spokesperson says the chamber will cover the cost of enhanced home security to members who request it. The home service will be paid for from the existing Minnesota Senate budget.  A similar request will cover House members with funds from the House budget.

The cost is expected to be 45 hundred dollars per member.

Flag Family News has reached out to local members of the Minnesota Legislature to inquire whether or not they plan to take advantage of the added security measures.
