Twins crushed by Red Sox in series finale

The Minnesota Twins were crushed by the Boston Red Sox 13-1 in their series rubber match on Wednesday afternoon.

Zebby Matthews gave up five runs over 4 ⅓ innings of work and was tagged with the loss. The bullpen would throw 4 ⅔ innings, giving up eight runs.

Matt Wallner drove in Minnesota’s only run on a solo home run. The Twins stranded six runners on base. The loss dropped their record to 51-57 on the season.

Minnesota is off on Thursday before beginning a six game road trip this weekend. The Twins will begin a series in Cleveland against the Guardians on Friday beginning at 6:10 p.m. Minnesota’s starter is scheduled to be Joe Ryan while Cleveland counters with Gavin Williams.
