Flag Family News reached out to Cass County State’s Attorney Kim Hegvik to see if her office has filed any charges against former Cass County Deputy Andrew Robinson. Hegvik said she received the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s report on Tuesday, August 26.
“It has not yet been assigned to a prosecutor for review or determination as to whether it would be appropriate for another office to handle the matter,” Hegvik said in an email.

Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner has fired Deputy Andrew Robinson after an investigation into his alleged assault of an inmate at the jail in Fargo.
“Our citizens expect our office to be transparent, professional at all times, and accountable for our actions, something we work hard to achieve every day as we go out and serve our community,” Jahner said in a statement obtained by Flag Family News. “Deputy Robinson’s actions did not align with our expectations in this circumstance.”
Jahner made the decision after the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension finished it’s investigation. He added Robinson did not follow his training or the sheriff’s office’s policies or procedures during the alleged incident.
Flag Family News reached out to Cass County State’s Attorney Kim Hegvik to see if she’s in the process of filing charges against Robinson, but she didn’t immediately respond.

FARGO, N.D. – A Cass County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Deputy is on administrative leave after an incident at the Cass County Jail.
Sheriff Jesse Jahner says Deputy Andrew Robinson was placed on leave due to an alleged assault of an inmate in the jail.
Sheriff Jahner contacted the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and requested they investigate the allegations brought forward by the inmate. Once the BCI has finished its investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will investigate the incident internally.
“When an allegation like this is made, the Sheriff’s Office will contact an outside agency to ensure an unbiased third-party investigation,” a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
