REGION – Severe storms are racing across the region.
The National Weather Service issued multiple severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings for the storms that began earlier in the day Thursday in western North Dakota before trekking across the region into the Red River Valley in the early morning hours. The tornado warnings did not spawn an actual tornado, but rather had radar-indicated rotation in the storms.
Power outages are being reported across the Red River Valley.
Cass County Electric, as of 4:40 a.m., reported 2,579 customers without power. Further north, Xcel Energy reported more than 800 customers without power in the Larimore area. A downed power line was reported in the city of Mayville.
