Missouri murder suspect arrested in Clay County

BARNESVIILLE, MN – A murder suspect from Missouri has been arrested in Clay County.

Sheriff Mark Empting said the Barnesville Police Department received a call Friday morning regrading a stalled vehicle on Highway 34 outside of Barnesville. They were informed that a male was attempting to change a tire on the vehicle and was acting suspicious.

A deputy arrived with Barnesville Police and located the man and vehicle.

After they made contact with the man, and checked the registration of the vehicle, it was discovered that the man was wanted out of St. Louis, Missouri, for murder. The St. Louis Police Department’s Homicide Division was contacted for confirmation – and the vehicle and man were wanted for murder.

James Emery Minor III, a 46-year-old with no permanent address, was taken into custody and transported to Clay County Corrections. He’s being held pending extradition.

The vehicle was also taken to the Clay County Law Enforcement Center, where it’s being held for authorities in St. Louis.
