Twins walk-off Royals in extra innings on Keaschall two-run homer

The Minnesota Twins walked-off the Kansas City Royals 5-3 in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon.

Rookie second baseman Luke Keaschall hit the walk-off two run homer. Ryan Fitzgerald also hit a two run homer, it was his first big league hit. Ryan Jeffers added an RBI.

Jose Urena gave up one run over three innings in a no-decision. Cole Sands gave up two runs while recording only one out. Pierson Ohl tossed 2 ⅔ scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Kody Funderburk, Brooks Kriske, and Justin Topa each threw a scoreless inning. Michael Tonkin closed out the game with a pair of scoreless innings, earning his first victory of the season.

Minnesota is now 5-4 since the trade deadline and sit at 56-61 on the season. They are currently five games out of the final Wild Card spot with 45 games remaining in the regular season.

The Twins are off to New York to take on the Yankees beginning on Monday night with first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m. and game coverage available on MLB Network.
