West Fargo man charged with domestic violence after reportedly breaking woman’s collarbone

WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A West Fargo man is facing multiple charges after a domestic incident on August 11.

According to court documents, West Fargo police were called to the scene and located a woman who showed officers her main injury from the incident on her collarbone. Officers noted redness and swelling in her shoulder area and a lump in the middle of her collarbone.

The victim told police she was doing dishes when a man later identified as Kevin Sells, came up behind her and grabbed her by the neck and choked her before throwing her to the ground. She would later tell police that Sells then began to hit her with a closed fist and threatened to kill her.

Another person who was in the residence woke up during the altercation and told police that he saw Sells on top of the victim when he woke up. Sells then left on a bicycle.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. They note that the victim appeared to have a serious injury to her shoulder and minimal movement would cause her to cry out in discomfort. It was later determined that she suffered a fractured collarbone.

The victim says that Sells called her while she was in the ambulance and said he didn’t regret what he did, which was confirmed by medical staff.

Police began a search for Sells at numerous locations through Fargo and West Fargo before they were notified that Sells returned to the scene, where he was then arrested.

Sells told police that he had grabbed the victim by the neck and threw her to the ground, but denied hitting or threatening her. Sells is now charged with two counts of domestic violence and one count of terrorizing.
