Twins down Yankees; end nine game losing streak to Bronx Bombers

The Minnesota Twins took down the New York Yankees 4-1 on Wednesday night, snapping a nine game losing streak to New York. There was a 1 hour and 52 minute rain delay before the first pitch of the game.

Joe Ryan was excellent, only giving up one run while striking out seven batters over 6 ⅔ innings, picking up the win. Kody Funderburk recorded one out in relief followed by two scoreless innings from Justin Topa to close the door.

Kody Clemens led the offense with a two-RBI triple. Luke Keaschall and Royce Lewis added an RBI apiece.

The Twins will now return home to Target Field for a four game weekend series against the division leading Detroit Tigers. First pitch of Thursday night’s series opener is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Minnesota will send Bailey Ober to the bump with Tarik Skubal countering for Detroit.
