Soaking rain for some, now severe weather possible?

A good soaking rain (not needed) for the S. Valley with some areas from Rutland to Fingal down to Brampton picking up 1-2″ of rainfall overnight:

We really don’t need any additional rain, however, there is more in the forecast.  Not everyone will see rain but we have a cold front arriving overnight which may trigger some storms to the north of the F/M area then ride southward into the Fargo area around midnight.  A big question is will they make it this far south?  Many of our models have the storms entering the far northern valley into northwest Minnesota then fizzling out by the time they get this far south.  I’m not totally buying into that scenario and the SPC (storm prediction center) does have our area outlined for a severe weather risk overnight.   The main threat would be large hail if these storms materialize:

After the passage of the cold front, less humid weather to end the week with a few storms possible over the latter half of the weekend.
