MINNESOTA – You can learn more about North Dakota native and late Minnesota Congressman Martin Sabo in his biography.
“The Making of the Modern Legislature” is written by longtime journalist Lori Sturdevant and Sabo’s Chief of Staff from his time in Congress, Mike Erlandson. It’s published by the Minnesota Historical Society.
Sabo was born in Crosby to Norwegian immigrant parents in 1938.
The Democrat served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1961 to 1978 and was Speaker from 1973 to 1979.
Sabo represented his Minneapolis-area district in Congress from 1979 to 2007 and was the House Budget Committee Chairman from 1993 to 1995.
