Argusville, N.D. – A horse was rescued after it was stuck in the Sheyenne River in Cass County over the weekend.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the situation just after 7pm Sunday in rural Argusville.
During the rescue, a tow strap was placed around the horse’s neck to keep its head above the water surface as the animal grew tired.

In an hour and a half after arriving, authorities say the horse was able to move 75 yards downstream where the slope of the riverbank was lower.
That allowed for the animal to be removed. The horse was eventually able to stand and walk on its own.
The horse’s owner, first responders and some private citizens were credited with successfully rescuing the horse.
