Moorhead launches annual traffic safety event in wake of crash leaving 9-year old dead

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Police are planning to hold a traffic safety event on the first day of school in Moorhead, where a young boy riding a bike was killed in a crash over the summer.

In late July, 9-year old Adam Amin was hit by a city truck at 40th Avenue South and 14th Street South.

The event on the first day of school on September 2nd will be in Amin’s memory, and will become an annual event going forward.

Amin attended S.G Reinertsen Elementary School.

Authorities say the public will see a large police and volunteer presence at all Moorhead Area Public Schools through the day to “promote public awareness and ensure a safe return for students.”

Police will also conduct traffic safety details during the day and evening across the city to encourage safe driving.
