The 2025 season opener is finally here for the Minnesota Vikings! They will open the new campaign in Chicago against a division rival in the Bears.
The game will be nationally televised on ESPN/ABC as the NFL’s first Monday Night Football matchup of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. with QB JJ McCarthy set to make his first NFL start.
Minnesota’s final injury report that dropped over the weekend confirmed that veteran Safety Harrison Smith is out (illness) and will not travel with the team. Additionally, RB Zavier Scott and DL Elijah Williams are also out for the contest. Offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw is listed as questionable with the final decision on his status coming closer to game time on Monday.
The Vikings finished the 2024 season with a record of 14-3 before falling to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wild Card Round. Minnesota has made the postseason and lost in the Wild Card two of the past three seasons.
