Twins shutout Yankees in series opener

The Minnesota Twins rode a five run seventh inning to a 7-0 victory over the New York Yankees on Monday night.

Simeon Woods Richardson struck out 11 batters over six scoreless innings, earning the win. Kody Funderburk, Travis Adams, and Pierson Ohl each tossed a shutout inning in relief.

Austin Martin led the offensive attack with four RBI. Brooks Lee hit a solo home run, his 15th of the season. Lee picked up two RBI in the game. Luke Keaschall added an RBI.

The Twins and Yankees will continue their series tonight with first pitch slated for 6:40 p.m. Zebby Matthew is scheduled to be on the mound for Minnesota.
