NORTH DAKOTA – North Dakota will likely set a new state record for the amount of tornadoes in a calendar year.

Severe weather on Sunday, September 14 included 19 confirmed twisters. North Dakota has seen 58 so far this year, but the National Weather Service is finalizing the official number from last weekend.

The record of tornadoes in a year was 61 set in 1999.
