Moorhead Police say a 17-year-old allegedly involved in a disturbance at the Moorhead Career Academy on Monday, September 29 has been arrested.
Authorities say they made contact with them in the 2800 block of 34th Street South around 3:30. That’s near Moorhead Area Public Schools’ Vista Center For Education, but police haven’t confirmed the teen was found near the building.
While reviewing traffic camera video and searching the area, officers found a loaded handgun nearby.
The teen was taken into custody on possession of a gun by a minor charges and taken to the West Central Regional Juvenile Center.

Officials with Moorhead Area Public Schools say there was no weapon found. We are told though, a student’s backpack was searched at Moorhead’s Alternative Learning Center. Leaders tell us student and staff safety is a top priority, and they will continue following all safety protocols.
This follows an incident earlier this month where a gun was found at the Moorhead Career Academy. Staff allegedly saw the student drop a gun during a class transition period.
Moorhead Area Public School leaders have declined several attempts at an interview to talk about the matters further.
