Department of War awards contract for runway repairs at Grand Forks AFB

GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE – A $19 million contract has been awarded for the Grand Forks Air Force Base by the U.S. Department of War for runway repairs at the base.

“A good runway is the beating heart of any Air Force Base, critical for current and future aircraft operations,” said U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer, chair of the Senate Armed Services (SASC) Airland Subcommittee. “I heard the concerns of our base leaders and worked hard to get this project authorized in the National Defense Authorization Act, knowing how important it will be to the really important future missions of Grand Forks Air Force Base.”

The runway has deteriorated over time due to cracking and weathering, causing the need for repairs to degraded pavement sections.

The task order will provide the necessary materials, plans, travel, labor, and equipment for the construction.

The work is scheduled to be completed by late September 2026.
