Fargo City Auditor to retire next month

FARGO – Fargo City Auditor Steve Sprague is retiring.

He confirmed the news to Flag Family News, after it was first mentioned at a meeting of the City of Fargo’s Liquor Control Board on Wednesday.

Liquor Control Board Chairman Dave Piepkorn has served with Sprague on the board for 16 years.

“It’s been an honor to serve with you,” he said to Sprague. “The challenge for all of us is to leave this place better than we found it, and you have definitely done that, Steve.”

Piepkorn lauded the Auditor’s knowledge as one of the finer points that will be difficult to replace.

“The institutional knowledge that you carry with you, we will not be able to replace,” he said.

Sprague began at the City of Fargo in December 1999 and will retire November 7.
