Hurricane Melissa is bearing down on the island of Jamaica. This is expected to be a catastrophic hurricane, one of which Jamaica has NEVER seen. Currently Melissa is a CAT 5 hurricane with SUSTAINED winds of 160mph. It is expected to make a direct hit on the island:

A 965mb hurricane (28.50″ on your home barometer) Again, this will bring 20-40″ of rainfall to the island. Landfall is expected between midnight (picture shown above) and early AM hours on Tuesday. Here’s a look at rainfall expectations. I have the island of Jamaica circled:

20-40″ of rainfall. UNREAL!!!
Our weather is much “tamer” in comparison, obviously and although we are doing ok on rainfall, more is on the way. A slow moving area of low pressure will track across the state through tomorrow. Here’s a look at rainfall expectations across the area:

Heaviest rain falling from Bismarck to Grand Forks, while lighter amounts around the F/M area and points southward with up to 1/2″ possible. Temps this week will be “seasonal” in the upper 40s to around 50. Halloween looks chilly in the 40s with a few rain/snow showers.
