Vikings put Carson Wentz on injured reserve

EAGAN, Minn. – Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz has been placed on injured reserve.

Five-time FCS Champion with the North Dakota State Bison was seen wincing in pain multiple times during the Vikings’ 37 to 10 loss on Thursday Night Football on October 23. The Bismarck Century graduate wore a brace on his left shoulder for that game. During a postgame press conference, Wentz said there wasn’t any point he wanted to be taken off the field.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Wentz will have surgery on that shoulder.

J.J. McCarthy is expected to start on Sunday against the Lions after coming off an ankle injury. He was seen practicing on Monday.

Former Gopher Max Brosmer is the only other quarterback on the Vikings’ roster.

Tight End Ben Sims was claimed off waivers to take Wentz spot on the roster.
