DILWORTH, MN — A levy that would have provided the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton School District with $850,000 annual to support school operations has failed.
The referendum failed by a margin of 652 votes (51.3 percent) in support to 619 (48.7 percent) opposed. 60 percent support was needed to pass.
“We are disappointed in the outcome, but we respect the decision made by voters,” said Superintendent Shannon Hunstad. “Our financial challenges aren’t going to disappear. There are difficult decisions ahead that will impact our students.”
The proposed $850,000 annual levy was intended to address ongoing budget deficits and fund operating costs such as classroom supplies, curriculum, technology, and building maintenance. Without this additional funding, the district now faces the task of identifying further budget reductions.
