Former Cass County Deputy charged with simple assault after incident in Cass County Jail

FARGO – A former Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy who was fired after an alleged assault of an inmate at the Cass County Jail has been officially charged.

Andrew Robinson is accused of one count of simple assault, a Class B Misdemeanor.

According to court documents, the incident happened on July 31. An investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation showed that Robinson ‘struck an inmate in the face using an open hand one time.’

He is set to appear for his first appearance – an arraignment – next Thursday at the Cass County District Courthouse in Fargo.
