Disturbance at Fargo bank leads to arrest

FARGO – Fargo Police responded to a disturbance at a bank Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the 400 block of Main Avenue for a disturbance involving a man who walked into the bank and told an employee that he was robbing the bank – and wanted $50,000.

Officers arrived within minutes and detained the man, identified as 36-year-old Kashif Grant, without incident. He was arrested for attempted felony theft.

Police say no weapons were displayed and no threats were made. Grant was not found with a weapon.

“Officers responded in a manner consistent with investigating a robbery in progress, but quickly determined there was no threat to the business or the general public,” Captain Matt Christensen said. “There is no evidence to suggest the suspect made any threats to inflict or attempt to inflict bodily injury on anyone; the offense of Robbery does not apply in this circumstance.”

The Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine what charges Grant will face.
