Border czar Tom Homan gives update on the northern, southern border

Tom Homan’s interview with The Flag’s Scott Hennen

WASHINGTON – Tom Homan is no stranger to the issues at the border.

Previously serving as Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the first Trump Administration, he now serves as Trump’s border czar.

Southern Border

There have been 575,000 deportations since the beginning of Trump’s term in office. In addition, 2,000 arrests daily – 70 being criminals.

“These numbers are the biggest numbers we’ve ever seen,” Homan said.

The Trump administration is set to eclipse the 600,000-deportation mark – a record for the United States, surpassing the previous high of 409,000.

Nonetheless, he said the Border ‘is the most secure border in the history of this nation.’

Homan says that, in addition to the deportations, 24,000 missing children have been found – but says there is ‘a lot more work to do.’

He says there have been removal of ‘a lot of public safety threats,’ making neighborhoods a safe place.

Northern Border

Not only are there the protections needed at the southern border, but the Northern Border needs them too.

“That’s a huge border,” Homan said. “And finally, you have President Trump demanding Canada take action, that they start doing some enforcement of dope, drugs and people coming south from Canada.”

The border czar has already met with leadership from Canada.

“We have some plans already instituted,” he said. “Not only to decrease drug flow, but to decrease illegal immigration moving south.”

North Dakota trip

Homan said he’s coming to North Dakota.

While no dates have been specifically announced, Homan said he’s likely going to be in the state on the first week of December.
