Inmate who walked away from Bismarck correctional facility arrested in Devils Lake

BISMARCK, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Roman Poitra, who walked away from an unfenced Bismarck prison facility, was arrested Wednesday night in Devils Lake.

According to the North Dakota Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, he was staying at a home in Devils Lake.

Poitra reportedly walked away from the Missouri River Correctional Center on Nov. 8 at 11:19 a.m.

The MRCC is an unfenced, minimum-security facility in Bismarck.

Poitra was convicted of prohibited material possession and failure to register.

His release date is January 2028.

Poitra is in custody at the Lake Region Correctional Center.
