MAYVILLE — A fire continues to smolder in Mayville several days after an elevator caught fire.
“Our crews worked through the night to keep flames down and protect nearby homes,” the department posted on social media. “Thanks to the teamwork of everyone on scene, we were able to hold the fire back and prevent it from spreading toward residential areas.”
Crews brought in an excavator on Wednesday to help move debris in an effort to reach hot spots buried underneath the rubble.
Crews continue working towards final containment of the blaze.
